Plans Underway for Town’s Foodie Extravaganza
The region’s biggest foodie event is set to return this September and organisers say preparations are well on track with a host of new and exciting features also in the pipeline.
Mold Food & Drink Festival 2017 will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September in its’ usual location, New Street Car Park.
It will be the Festival’s twelfth year and the ever-popular menu featuring the area’s finest food and drink producers, celebrity and local chef demonstrations, cookery workshops, and live music will ensure a satisfying family-friendly feast of a weekend for the most discerning of visitors.
The Festival’s continued growth and success makes it one of the biggest in Wales. Last year over 13,000 people came to the event and a record 140 exhibitors. It is well established as a must-visit event for the local population, but visitors travel from the neighbouring counties of Wrexham and Denbighshire, as well as Cheshire, Wirral, and other parts of Wales and the UK to sample the delights on offer.
John Les Tomos, Festival Chairman said, “We are looking forward to another brilliant festival this year. It is really encouraging for us to see what an incredibly successful event it continues to be, attracting both regular and new visitors year on year.
“The Festival has definitely contributed to establishing Mold, and indeed Flintshire, as a foodie destination and boosted not only the food visitor economy but also the wider local economy too.
“With the ongoing demise of funding creating real financial pressures, we have had to take the decision to increase stall and admission prices but, at £7 for an adult ticket, this still offers our visitors exceptional value for money and is still cheaper than, or on a par with, similar food festivals.
“As always, we are looking at how we can develop the Festival to offer visitors something new to see and do. We are currently working on ideas for a number of new attractions which we will announce in due course.
“The Festival is highly respected amongst food producers and every year we receive incredibly positive exhibitor feedback, with many saying it’s the best show they do. Last year we increased the exhibitor areas to accommodate an even wider diversity of produce but, from a space point of view, we are pretty much at maximum capacity on the current site. We have already received over a hundred bookings and we’re urging any local producers to apply and secure their space as soon as possible.”
“We would also be interested to hear from businesses in the area who are looking to raise their profile and could take advantage of the unique marketing opportunity that the Festival can provide. We can offer a range of exciting sponsorship opportunities and anyone interested is invited to contact us to discuss further.”
