Meet the Chefs at Festival Book Signings

Visitors to the region’s flagship food, drink and music festival this weekend will have an opportunity to meet two of the star guests appearing at the event.

Mold Food & Drink Festival returns for its twelfth year and organisers are saying it will be the biggest yet with more than one hundred and forty exhibitors attending and a packed programme of activities, children’s entertainment and live music.

Over the years, numerous top flight chefs and experts have graced the stage in the festival’s cookery theatre including Gino D’Campo, James Martin, Aldo Zilli and Rosemary Shrager, all providing entertaining and inspirational cookery demonstrations in their own unique style.

This year is no exception, with multi-Michelin star French chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli, and acclaimed food writer and Great British Bake Off winner, Jo Wheatley headlining the programme of cookery demonstrations.

In between demonstrations, both will take time out to sign copies of their recipe books and chat to visitors.

Jean-Christophe is well known for his incredible cooking artistry and his unique healthy cooking techniques which he now passes on to others at his cookery school, The Novelli Academy, which has been voted amongst the ‘Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World.’

He has catered for Heads of State, Royalty and well-known personalities around the world and is one of only three chefs ever to have been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts for his thirty years of dedication to his craft and outstanding achievements in cooking.

On Sunday, Jean-Christophe will be signing copies of his most recent book, entitled ‘Simply Novelli’, after each of his three demos. The book features over one hundred ‘quick and easy French classics’ with an emphasis on using high quality, natural ingredients to create dishes suitable for any occasion.

Since winning an early series of The Great British Bake Off, Jo Wheatley’s baking talents have led to her setting up a cookery school, writing top-selling baking books, and appearing at numerous live food events across the country, including BBC Good Food Show, The Cake and Bake Show, and Ideal Home Show.

Jo was voted second in a poll of Radio Times readers’ favourite ever Great British Bake Off contestants, and her successful blog, Jo’s Blue AGA, attracts a huge following.
As a food writer, she has worked as a recipe columnist for Sainsbury’s magazine and is a frequent contributor to various publications including BBC Good Food Magazine and Hello magazine.

She will deliver three baking masterclasses on Saturday and visitors will have the chance to meet her while she signs copies of her latest book, ‘Home Baking’.

The book is a compilation of recipes that have been tried, tested and enjoyed by Jo’s family and friends. Many of the recipes have been passed down to her by her Nan and the book includes a mix of delicious sweet and savoury bakes that are simple to make.

Both books will be available at a specially reduced price for Festival visitors.

Graham Tinsley MBE, Executive Chef at Carden Park Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort will be sharing his culinary expertise over the weekend as well as local chefs Kelvin Parry, Head Chef/Patron from The Dining Room, Llanrhaeadr Springs in the North Wales Clwydian Range, and Tony Griffiths who heads up the restaurant at the Crown Inn, Lixwm. Peter Rushworth, award-winning butcher from Swan’s Farm Shop, will give a butchery masterclass using premium Welsh meat.

Every year the celebrity and local chefs provide entertaining and creative cookery demonstrations for our visitors and this year I think we have a particularly exciting line up with lots of variety.
