Camera Club Captures the Essence of Local Food
The Mold Camera Club photography competition launched a few months ago in conjunction with organisers of Mold Food & Drink Festival has received some interesting photos capturing a range of food related images from around the Mold area.
All the entries were submitted to the festival committee and were recently judged by a panel comprising Bryan Grew, festival committee member and Town Councillor, George Greatorex, competition sponsor and owner of Academy of Design, Mold and Graham Catherall, retired professional photographer. The judges were impressed by the high standard of all the photographs and after considerable discussion and debate, a consensus was arrived at and the final decision was unanimous.
The first prize of £100 was won by Pam Sheldon, aged 35 from Eryrys for “Mold Hamper”. Pam says, “I am thrilled to have won first prize. I only bought my camera last October and joined Mold Camera Club in January so this is a wonderful surprise!” The second prize of £50 went to Steve Jones, aged 54 from Connahs Quay for “Luke Thomas at Work”, and the third prize of £25 was won by Chris Noble, aged 50 from Greenfield for “Iced Pleasure”. The cash prizes will be presented to the winners at the festival on Saturday 24th September.
Three highly commended entries were awarded to Ian Parker for “Celebration Party”, Chris Davies for “Alfresco, Whatever the Weather” and Andy Polakowski for “Ah Pizza” who will each receive £15. A further three
entries received a commendation and £10 each.
John Les Tomos, festival committee chairman says, “The competition has been a great success. We have received some stunning entries that depict Mold, its food and produce in some very creative ways. The standard has been incredibly high and I would like to thank all those who took part”.
All the winning photographs together with a selection from the competition will be exhibited at the Mold Food & Drink Festival over the weekend of 24th and 25th September and can also be viewed on the website at www.moldfoodfestival.co.uk
